On July 12, 2017 around 9:30 pm. A Sylacauga police officer made traffic stop on a vehicle near the Fairmont Community entrance. The traffic stop turned into a narcotics investigation and then became physical between the driver and the officer. The driver was able to run away from the immediate grasp of the SPD officer but was quickly reengaged after a quick foot pursuit. The officer deployed his “Taser” striking the suspect and was able to take him into custody.
